Karlee Hart, founder of Beachkrew, transformed her childhood entrepreneurial spirit into a prosperous business journey. She was studying Accounting and Entrepreneurship at University of Delaware when the pandemic drastically changed college life in 2020. Karlee embraced the new lifestyle and searched for opportunity to make an impact. Out of the basement at home in NJ, she began creating and selling hats as 'hatsbykarlee' at the end of her Junior Year in May 2021, age 21. With help from family and friends, she built the business from her childhood home and college bedroom. The success of this initial venture led her to quickly expand her product offerings and rebrand as 'Beachkrew', inspired by her common love for the coastal lifestyle and a strong desire to make beach town apparel better. To fully commit to her thriving business, Karlee made the bold choice to forgo her senior year classes.

While residing in Ocean City NJ during the Summer of 2021, the beginning stage of BK, she found inspiration in the blissful lifestyles surrounding her. This motivated her to design and create purposeful beachwear, loungewear and accessories that would further elevate this lifestyle. Additionally, she aimed to address the lack of unique and fashionable apparel at 'The Shore' and in beach towns nationwide. Over the next few months, she dedicated herself to sourcing the highest quality sweatshirts and creating unique, beach-inspired designs - her top priorities still today. The opportunity arose to launch a long-term Beachkrew pop-up inside Spoon & Sip in OCNJ, in Feb 2022. Karlee gave it her all & it proved to be an unforgettable year, with exponential growth and increased confidence for Hart as she embraced her instincts and took risks. The incredible support from the community continues to serve as a major source of inspiration for Hart and the growing team. Her team and community are her “why.”
